{Review and Giveaway} Mama Cloth + Femme Rock!

WARNING: This post will be personal, and will include the topics of menstruation, please skip this post if that makes you uncomfortable!

After learning about cloth diapers and cloth wipes and all the accessories that go with them led to my learning about Mama Cloth. Now we have a choice whether to use cloth or disposable during that most uncomfortable time of the month. I have piled together a review of some of my favorite mama cloth accessories plus some tips to help you decide.

My Posh Pads

This is the first cloth that I want to introduce to. My Posh Pads sent me “It’s a Girl Thing Period!” sampler pack that included: 1 Maxi {10 in.}, 1 panty liner {8 in.}, 1 mini {7 in.}, a netted carrying bag, and a small wet bag. A little off topic, but I was also sent a 2 pack of nursing pads!

Before start with the pads, I want to tell you a little more about the nursing pads. They consist of organic flannel and layers of natural antibacterial bamboo and organic cotton fabric on top. They are super soft and the more you was them the softer they become, this is awesome for when you have sore, tender nipples! Just wash these on a gentle cold cycle and then lay flat to dry. They can be purchased as a 2 pack set anywhere from $8.95-$16.95 depending on design!

The pads above are arranged in order of absorbency. The one on the left is the mini, then the regular, and finally the maxi. The maxi pad has two little red hearts on the wings to remind you that it is used for heavy flows. Personally since I tend to have a light flow, the mini is all that I need.

They attach to underwear just like regular pads except without the sticky back that tends to get stuck to other unmentionable places. My Posh Pads’ pads have not only one, but two snap lengths that allow for a more custom fit to the underwear!

Once you are ready to change pads just simply roll this up like a disposable, snap, and then place in a designated bag or case. I use a small wet bag.

Once you are ready to wash them, just simply un-snap, place in a cold wash with your regular laundry, or separately. DO NOT use HOT water as it can cause them to shrink or to stain, after all cold water is what gets out bloody stains. If you do decide to do a separate wash, which is what many of us will decide, just add in some Femme Rock from Rockin Green Soap and follow the instructions above. Once they have washed, I would do an extra rinse, and then take them out and lay flat to dry. Placing them in the dryer can cause them to bunch up and become uncomfortable while wearing.

Ding and Kennie

As I stated above, I tend to have a light flow so most of the time I can go the whole time, by just wearing a panty liner. Ding and Kennie offer panty liners like the one below that I was sent and many other sizes and designs. DSCN3636

I love how they are thin and long, which is what I look for in a liner. They have the same snaps and are washed the same way. The only thing that I found different from My Posh Pads, is that they have one snap instead of two and that they tend to bunch up and give you a wedgie whenever you bend or squat. I believe that this is due to the fact that they are loose on my undies and could seriously use another snap, but other than that I love them, and I love the awesome prints!!

Femme Rock

Remember how I stated above that Femme Rock was awesome to wash your pads and liners in separately? Well, I was sent the following bag to try out!

DSCN3894

Every time I see Rockin Green items, I cannot help but get excited! It is such an awesome brand of detergent and the company is amazing! Rockin Green not only specializes in Femme Rock for our pads, but they also have cloth diaper safe detergent, dog house detergent, and other laundry accessories!

DSCN3906

When washing my pads, I simply do the cold wash cycle and then I toss in two scoops of Femme Rock by using my magnetic scoop from Rockin Green, next I allow them to wash, and then I rinse again and lay flat to dry. Rockin Green’s Femme Rock will not only keep your pads clean, and odorless, but they also allow them to stay absorbent, due to the fact that it does not leave residue.

When Femme Rock is placed into the washer it does not suds like many other powder, this is one sign that it is a residue free detergent, not to mention that it is also Phosphate Free, Scent Free, and SLS Free! Rockin Green was developed in 2009 by none other than a cloth diapering mom who desired a better way to keep her diapers clean and her children’s sensitive skin safe.
