Ease of Use

Included in the Genesis Kit is a CO2 tank and and the machine. The instructions were really easy to follow and there were even pictures to help! With this soda stream everything is screwed on, which makes it extremely easy to use. In order to get your best tasting “healthy” all you have to do is fill the bottle to the line with water, screw onto the machine, and give it a couple of presses. I do 6 for just about everything. When you are ready to take off the bottle to add flavoring, just pull it toward you and then unscrew. Next tilt the bottle and add a capful of flavoring, place the lid on the bottle and then slowly shake. I just turn it up and down a couple of times, and that is it! You have homemade soda! Add some ice cubes and you are good to go. Even though this is easy to do, and anyone could do, my little sister does not like the buzzing noise associated with pressing the CO2 button, so I am officially the soda maker at home!

Washing/Drying/Storing

It states in the instructions, that you are not to wash the bottles in hot water, and that you can either wash with or without soap. I just rinse mine out with lukewarm water after each use, and after I make my soda I leave it in the bottle and place it in the fridge. The bottles are okay to chill, but you are not suppose to freeze them or heat them. This is how I store my stream and flavors.

DSCN4510Summary of Thoughts

I used to be a really big soda drinker until I developed acid reflux and had to stop. I then switched to sweet tea, and then I started going to my nutritionist and have drank nothing but water for the past two years, and any time I try soda I could never handle the fizz. With the soda stream I can control how much fizz I want or don’t want. I love that there are many, many, did I mention many flavors that you can use. You can mix and concoct to your heart’s content.

We have tried Root Beer, Ginger Ale, Orange, and Cranberry/Raspberry. My favorite so far is the Orange soda, it tastes so much like Sunkist! Marlee’s favorite is the Root Beer. I am really looking forward to trying the energy drink one, I heard that it tasted like Red Bull, but maybe it will be better than that.

Every time someone comes over I show the soda stream and do a little demonstration and taste test for them and each person has asked me how much a machine like this runs for and then I tell them. I look forward to trying more flavors and enjoy saving money and drinking healthier sodas!

Price

I just tried a sample of the diet grapefruit at Costco yesterday. The demo gal just did three pushes of the button and there was plenty of bubbles.

  2. Christina T says:

I have yet to try out this machine or sample any of it’s products but like yourself I suffer from acid reflex and have a hard time with the bubbles in soda. Being able to control the amount in them would be a welcome change. I was also amazed at the variety of flavors and beverage options from soda, to flavored water, and teas that you can make with the Soda Stream. This really seems like a product I could and would get a lot of use out of. Thanks for the great review!

  3. Alycia M says:

I have been wanting to try the SodaStream for a while, thanks for the review! The orange flavor would be my favorite as well!

  4. I love soda and am definitely looking forward to trying out a sodastream sometime. Thank you for showing us all how easy they are to use.

  5. Catherine L says:

A friend of mine got a Soda Stream for Christmas, I look forward to coming over to his house so I can have some fizzy water.

  6. Cathy Kulupka says:

Mmmm…sounds delightful. I would love to try the Ginger Ale!

  7. My inlaws have one and it is so cool! And the soda tastes great!

  8. I want to try one of these so bad. When I was a kid my aunt had a soda machine – it tasted so good then. I can’t imagine how much better it would be now that they’ve had 20 years to perfect the recipes…
