A Happy Green Life was started by Amanda Wucher-Aller and Kristin Ward in 2012. Our goal is to provide you with products that make living a green life easy in the modern world. We also want to educate people about how easy it is to help the environment and minimize their household budget. Going green can be easy and save your family a lot of money. There are so many quick changes that can be made to live A Happy Green Life!
Why All Natural Laundry Wash?
We started by making an all natural laundry wash for many reasons. We both cloth diaper our babies and needed to find a detergent that was safe and gentle but worked effectively to get the stink out. We also did not want to have to buy a separate soap for our diapers and our regular laundry. Our husbands both have specific laundry needs due to their occupations – Daddy Ward is a chef, and comes home smelling like a professional kitchen (yuck) and Daddy Aller is in the military and needed to follow the strict regulations for washing his ACUs. So we created our all natural laundry wash after a lot of research and vigorous testing.
We are currently working on adding a lot of great green products to our line up. We are always looking for great products that will fit our company’s goals. Most of our products are made by us, but some are from other small businesses from across the country. We support American made products and businesses when possible!
I must admit that every time I see that smiley sun, it makes me feel all happy inside! A Happy Green Life was so kind as to send me the following sample scents to receive: Fruit Slices, April Clean, Mountain Fresh, Paradise Reef, Baby Bee, Love Spell, Doodle Bug, Rainbow, Lilac and Bite Me.
When I first came upon A Happy Green Life, I immediately fell in love with their little site, I loved how everything was neat and easy to find, it was a breath of fresher air.
More About the Scents
Baby Bee: A fragrance cocktail of luscious fruits such as peaches, mandarin oranges, coconut pulp, bergamot, grapefruit, tropical guava, and tangy lemons.
Bite Me: Fresh citrus notes of lime and orange sparkle with effervescent highlights as they lead to a luscious blend of berry and cherry in this playful scent. Leafy green accents add intensity as a base of vanilla creates sweet tones for the fragrance.
Doodle Bug: A blend of cream soda, fresh watermelon slices, hubba bubba bubblegum, with a hint of newborn baby.
Fruit Slices: Fruit salad of orange, strawberry, apple and grapes; sprinkled with shaved coconut.
Lilac: The aroma of a freshly blooming luscious lilac bush.
Love Spell: An absolutely tantalizing fragrance composed of sweet bouquet of mandarin orange, bergamot, and tangerine enhanced by hints of fresh peaches, strawberries, and raspberries on an undertone of white musk. Imaginative and very complex!
Mountain Fresh: The fragrance begins with top notes of herbaceous green ivy, Brazilian orange, and Italian lemon; middle notes of Damascenia rose, ylang ylang, and violet; base notes of patchouli, cedarwood, musk, and vanilla.
Paradise Reef: A sparkling fragrance with salt water and fresh air notes. This fragrance begins with notes of nectarine, bird of paradise, and water lily, followed by middle notes of passion flower, orchid, and hyacinth. A well-rounded fragrance empowered by fresh air and salt water notes.
When I began using cloth diapers, the first thing on my worry list, was the detergent, which detergent should I use, which should I not use? A Happy Green Life was more than happy to answer my questions and point me into the right direction. Their detergent not only gets the stinkies out, but it also makes your diapers come out smelling like the detergent that you used, so in my case they would come out smelling like Lilac! I love that feature of this detergent! They recommend that if you have tough to get rid of stinkies to do an overnight hot soak, where you place the diapers in a hot wash with the detergent and then let it set over night.
As you can see the detergent does not have any bubbles or suds, this is due to the fact that they do not use soap in their detergents, because that can cause buildup in your cloth diapers, and cause them to stink worse. After using our Happy Green Life detergents we have not had any problems and we love the individual smells and Lilac is by far my favorite! Make sure to keep a watch on their site as they have new scents each season. The scents for August are listed below:
Candied Apple: An irresistible blend of juicy apples, rounded out with notes of sweet plums and ripened strawberries; enhanced with a splash of lime, orange zests, with sharp green notes.
Cotton Candy: Just like the mouthwatering smell as you walk past the cotton candy booth at the fair! A blend of fresh strawberry and French vanilla
Frozen Margarita: begins with top notes of essential oil of Lime and Mandarin Orange; including notes of Southern Valencia, Lemon, and Sea Salt; followed by middle notes of frothy iced Guava Nectar, Strawberries, and Pineapple; all sitting on base notes of Brown Sugar, Vanilla Rum, and Musk.
Georgia Sunrise: The refreshing combination of fresh peaches and ripened raspberries, with a dry down of vanilla.
Strawberry Shortcake: The aroma of buttery vanilla cake with notes of freshly sliced strawberries, with base notes of rich vanilla cream.
I would love to try the Candied Apple scent! Yum! They are also unique because they have different retailers that carry exclusive scents, such as:
- Butt Naked: The tantalizing base note medley of granny smith apples and honeydew melon, middle notes of strawberries and pears, with hints of spice.
- Denim: a complex blend of fresh breeze, lemon, lime, cyclamen, and water lily; sitting on base notes of soft woods, sweet amber, and sheer musk.
- Sweet Pea: An English garden reminiscent of hyacinth, lily of the valley, violets and wild jasmine with a background of light herbal and musky notes.
- Tiger Lily: The fresh smell of fresh cut lilies of the valley, with a base note of fresh lilacs, and a hint of fresh greenery.
- Heavenly Honeydew - Lightly, sweet and Super juicy. A Very true melon Scent - Just Like Victoris Secret’s Honeydew rush!
- Oatmeal, Milk & Honey: The wonderful fresh aroma of hawthorne, with nuances of creamy French vanilla, soy milk and a base note of nutty almond

I too worry about laundry and stinkies issues. I prefer to make my own detergent, but have to buy Tide for the diapers. This detergent looks like it might be a nice compromise between the two.

I love their laundry detergent! It works so well and has no build up. I used it to prep all of my newborns clothes & diapers.

I’m always on the look-out for quality, effective, yet friendly on our clothing and body detergents — AND it has to work on cloth diapers! When I finish my current bag I would love to try some of this, especially the August Georgia Sunrise scent
I’ve never tried this detergent, but I’ve heard great things! I’d been using Rockin’ Green and it worked for awhile, but it’s just not doing it for us since they Remixed. I’ve tried several other detergents and so far I have a favorite, but it still leaves a little something to be desired. So I’m on the lookout for something different!
I have to admit, I thought this sounded a bit insincere when I started reading it, but I HAVE been looking for a better detergent. I would definitely be willing to try it. Does it work in HE machines? Seems like it would, since it doesn’t make suds.
I thought it was insincere because you were going on about the sunshine logo, the website, and the nice scent. Generally if a product works really well, that’s what you should focus on. I guess it all depends on your audience, though.
