Joovy sent us the following single Greenie Groove Umbrella Stroller, that is nothing like an umbrella!!
Ease of Assembly
As many of you probably know, I am not an assembly person. I am the type that takes the product out of the box and puts it together without reading the instructions. I was raised this way. When I first received the Groove this is how it looked.
This picture actually does not do the box justice, when it is standing upright it is almost as tall as me, and I am 5’4! You should have seen me pulling it out. I was afraid to turn the box over and pull it out that way because I was scared of getting the stroller dirty. Yes, I know, OCD. I was actually able to get the stroller out fairly easier than I imagined. Once out of the box it looks like this.
Most of the cheap umbrella strollers that we get from WalMart or somewhere are already put together and all you have to do is the step, but with Joovy it actually comes with a little assembly, such as the sun visor, and two front wheels. I have to admit that the instructions were so simple and easy to follow, they have pictures for those of us who do not like to read the instructions or who have trouble understand the information. The assembly was extremely easy, no screws or anything, just slide the visor on, Velcro, put the wheels on and turn and that is it! You have your very own awesome umbrella stroller!
Features
Fully Adjustable 5-Point Harness with Removable Should Pads
This is one of the most easiest 5-point harnesses that I have ever buckled, but in a good way. Most are so difficult to adjust, or once you get the baby buckled almost impossible to get them out and not to mention As you can see this harness is adjustable right where you baby is not and in the back, this allows you to actually SEE what you are adjusting!
Removable Oversized Canopy
Which means that it can go from the picture on the right to the picture on the left, or you can even take it off altogether. I personally love having the oversized canopy drawn like in the first picture, not only does this minimize sun exposure, but it also keeps your little one’s head from getting blistered. How many umbrella strollers have you seen with th
Covered Viewing Window
This is another great feature to have. It allows for you to peek in on baby without having to worry about interrupting them.
Mesh Pockets
This is actually the first time that I have ever seen strollers that had inside pockets for baby’s things, such as bottles, pacis, toys, and many other things. I love this concept and the ability for baby to always have her water while we are strolling.
2 Cup Holders for Parents and Zippered Storage Pocket
This is probably the one thing that I thought could have been better. The “cup holders” do not really seem that stable, and when I place a bottle of water into one it hangs and looks like it is about to fall out. The zippered pouch is a great feature and storage area when the back is reclined, but when the baby is sitting straight up it gets squished. I keep the strollers’ instruction manual and information in that pocket, but it could also be used for pacis, and other small gadgets.
Unlimited Recline Positions up to 149 Degrees
Do you see that gray apparatus that the black arrow is pointing to? That is the lever that you use to adjust the rise of the seat. If you want the seat to recline then simply push down the button above it and release the cord, if you want the seat to be raised then push the button again and pull the cord. It is really an easy task and light enough that it does not make the baby feel like they are falling.
The left is a picture of the seat in its highest setting and the right is the seat fully reclined.
Large Basket
This is another little problem that I had. This is a view of the basket when the seat is raised, easy access correct? Well once you recline the seat, there is no more easy access, in fact there is barely room to store much. This was bit of a downer for me, but with all the other awesome features, this seems like a little problem.
Adjustable Leg Support
I love this feature!! See how in the first picture, baby’s legs are dangling, and in the second picture they are not? This is due to the ability to adjust the leg support. Simply go from dangling to not dangling with a simple two handed technique. I love this, because it allows for baby to have a more personalized fit, and it doesn’t hurt the babies whose legs are not yet long enough to dangle.
Other great features that I did not take pictures of:
Automatic fold lock and carry handle
Sealed bearings in all wheels {also allows the ability to allow the wheels to swivel or stay straight while strolling}
Reflective light technology for safety
Great Joovy customer service {great? more like amazing! They were so kind and courteous on the phone and truly help you with your questions, not just dodge a bullet.}
Specifications
The stroller itself weighs 17lbs, but it is so evenly distributed that it does not feel that heavy. The stroller’s dimensions when folded is 16.5” H x 13.5” W x 42” D and when it is assembled it is 42.5” H x 20.75” W x 30.5” D. The minimum age should be no younger than 3 months and the maximum weight capacity is 55 lbs.
As you can see little Miss Natalie has no problems when it comes to fitting into this stroller. Unlike most umbrella strollers that have thin material and the plastic always seems to poke and prod you, this Joovy Groove does not. It has thick, sturdy material, that is safe and comfortable to baby’s bum.
